Everybody hates it when something breaks. However the aggravation can be reduced if the part that broke is something you can replace yourself without having to take it in for repairs. Power tools are the same way and many people are always looking for new sources for parts for power tools.

But before you start searching the earth for parts for power tools you may want to do a couple of things that may get your power tool repaired without you having to do any work. Before you start procuring parts for power tools always check and see if the power tool is under warranty first. A power tool under warranty will get repaired, at no cost to you except for shipping to the manufacturer, and it will save you a lot of money on parts for power tools.

The best way to check on warranty information is to get the serial number off the unit and then call the manufacturer. Some manufacturers do not require registration in order to be part of the warranty program and some even offer lifetime warranties so always be sure to check before you go buying parts for power tools. This is also why it is a good idea to get that warranty card in the mail as soon as you get your new power tool home.

But what if you are out of warranty and still need parts for power tools? Once again the first place you should check is the manufacturer. While it is true that the manufacturer will probably charge you more than anyone else will they can at least help you pinpoint which part you need and give you an all important part number. It is extremely difficult to buy parts for power tools without knowing the part number. Some people find the convenience of buying parts for power tools from the manufacturer hard to resist so that is how they get their parts. Other people will keep on looking.

Don’t Just Use The Internet

The default search method for most people these days is to use the internet. While you will probably find parts for power tools on the internet you should not limit your search to just the information superhighway. A quick search of the internet can tell you what vendors have the part in stock and for what price but you still have to wait for them to process your order and ship it. If you need an immediate reaction from your vendor then you can use a little older invention called the telephone.

Open your phone book and find the local authorized repair shop for the brand of power tool you own. Give them a call and see if they stock the part number and how much they charge. If the price is right then your result can be immediate by using a local vendor.

Many people still look at shopping as a personal experience. For many it is just fine to purchase everything they need off of the internet but for others they need to get their hands on the product before they feel comfortable buying it.

This can be especially said of those that buy hand tools. Hand tools are supposed to be something that lasts for many years and many people that buy them, whether they are contractors or just home improvement hobbyists, like to be able to feel the quality before they buy. But there are ways of finding good hand tools suppliers that can involve a cross of the internet and the regular retail store.

When you are looking for good hand tools suppliers you are looking for hand tools suppliers that have the name brands and quality you want along with the pricing you can live with. Unfortunately much of the real bargain basement pricing hand tools suppliers are on the internet but there is a way to balance between internet retailers and regular retailers and still get what you want.

One thing you could do while looking for hand tools suppliers is to check out your local home improvement warehouse for the right tools. Take your time and find the exact tools you want and need. Make sure you are comfortable with their quality and make sure they have all of the features you are looking for. Then, when you have written down the makes and models you want, get on the internet and check pricing. Many retailers dislike this practice but still many consumers do it. But there is an inherent danger in doing business this way that could some day be the downfall of hand tools suppliers on the internet.

It Just Ain’t Face To Face

When you buy something off the internet you are at the mercy of the customer service policies and staff of that online hand tools supplier. Even the very best in online customer service still requires shipping items back and forth if they are defective. This can take a lot of time. It may be in your best interest to find a local hand tools supplier that you can deal with as opposed to buying hand tools on the internet.

Take the internet pricing you found to your local hand tools supplier and see if they can do anything to either match or come close to that pricing. In the end you may find the buying experience much more satisfying if you know exactly where your hand tools supplier is located.

Some people can get emotionally attached to a particular manufacturer of a particular type of product and that can mean generations of brand loyalty from the consumer to the manufacturer. Families do this with car manufacturers, soft drink makers, and especially their hand tools manufacturer.

Almost every guy that works with hand tools has a favorite hand tools manufacturer and more than likely the loyalty to that particular hand tools manufacturer is something that was passed down to him by his father and then from his father’s father as well. If you look at the names of the various hand tools manufacturers in the world today you will notice that many of them have been around for hundreds of years and they are still going very strong. That is because of the loyalty that is handed down from generation to generation for these hand tools manufacturers.

There are a lot of reasons why some people prefer one hand tools manufacturer over another and in many cases it is more than just price. When you are using your hand tools you want to have the confidence that those hand tools will not only survive the job you are doing but will survive many projects for many years to come.

Not only that, but in many cases customers develop a sort of personal relationship with their hand tools manufacturer. They may have had a customer service issue that the company handled particularly well and that stayed with the customer. It only takes one good, or bad, experience to turn a customer’s favor and every hand tools manufacturer knows that and that is why the quality of the product being sold is important and so is the support the company offers. Most people like to feel that they made the right choice when they choose a hand tools manufacturer.

And Now The Downside Of Customer Loyalty

Well made hand tools are treasured by their owners and then eventually passed down to the next generation to be used again. At some point there needs to be replacement tools bought but quality made hand tools can usually be passed down through a couple of generations. While this bolsters the company’s reputation for making quality hand tools it can put a bite into new sales as people keep using their passed down hand tools. It is a tough fence to walk and the best hand tools manufacturers walk that fence all the time.

It isn’t easy being known as a quality hand tools manufacturer but when you get there you usually have attained a very loyal customer base. Nothing insures a company’s long term success more than a loyal customer base

All products change and evolve in either their look, their functionality, or both. People always like to point to the toothbrush as something that has not changed in hundreds of years but the fact is that the electric toothbrush market is changing all the time with new products and product changes. So if something as simple as the toothbrush can change dramatically over the years then can the same be said for the most basic of hand tools category?

The hand tools category I am speaking of is the hammer. If you find pictures of hammers from thousands of years ago they look a lot like the hammers we use today. But it wasn’t until some inventive people in the last 50 years started to add to this hand tools category that we started to see the changes and advances in this very basic hand tools category. From completely crazy inventions like a hammer with a motorized head that is supposed to hammer automatically to simple upgrades like the sledgehammer we get to see changes in this hand tools category that we may take for granted.

A sledgehammer is designed to do the heavy work and for a very long time it is how people did demolition on large projects. But there was an advancement that replaced the sledgehammer and made everyone’s lives so much easier and that advancement was the jackhammer. Most people take a jackhammer for granted but ask a construction worker mow much more difficult their job would be if they did not have this hand tools category advancement available to them. Something tells me they would say that the jackhammer is a great advancement in hammers and many could not do their jobs without it.

Getting The Air To Do The Hammering

Several years ago hand tool manufacturers started to experiment with air powered tools. What came out of all of this was probably the greatest advancement for the hand tools category of the hammer since the invention of the claw hammer head. The air driven nail gun has replaced the hammer as the tool of choice for home builders and other construction people alike and it has made the process of framing a room, or a house, so much easier. Anything you used to do with a hammer is now made easier by the invention of the air driven nail gun and many a contractor, and their thumbs, are probably very happy with this advancement in technology.
